Position Overview: Fort Morgan High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our cheerleading program as an Assistant Cheer Coach. This position will primarily focus on coordinating sideline cheer activities while also providing support and assistance for our competitive cheer team. The Assistant Cheer Coach will work closely with the Head Cheer Coach to foster a positive and inclusive environment where students can develop their skills, teamwork, and school spirit.

Responsibilities:

  1. Sideline Cheer Coordination:

    • Plan and organize sideline cheer routines for various sporting events including football, basketball, and other designated school events.
    • Conduct regular practices to teach cheers, chants, and halftime performances to the cheerleading squad.
    • Coordinate with the athletic department to ensure alignment with game schedules and event logistics.
    • Foster enthusiasm and school spirit among the cheerleading squad and the student body.
  2. Competitive Cheer Support:

    • Assist the Head Cheer Coach in preparing the competitive cheer team for competitions, including choreography, stunts, and routines.
    • Provide guidance and feedback to cheerleaders during practices and performances to improve technique and execution.
    • Attend competitions and provide support to the team both on and off the competition floor.
    • Assist with administrative tasks related to competitive cheer, such as organizing travel arrangements, managing budgets, and coordinating fundraising activities.
  3. Student Development:

    • Serve as a mentor and role model for cheerleaders, promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
    • Help create a positive and inclusive team culture where all members feel valued and supported.
    • Provide guidance and support to help cheerleaders balance their academic and athletic responsibilities.
  4. Communication and Collaboration:

    • Maintain open and effective communication with the Head Cheer Coach, school administrators, athletes, parents, and other stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with other coaches and athletic staff to ensure a coordinated approach to scheduling, facilities usage, and other shared resources.
    • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and other professional development opportunities as required.
