Job Summary: The Autism Coordinator is crucial in enhancing support services for students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within the Morgan County School District. This position involves the following:

 

Responsibilities:

 

Assist teachers and paraprofessionals in each building with the implementation of ASD-specific assignment adjustments for daily work. 

 

Model how to adjust the presentation of assignments/classwork for students according to evidence-based ASD interventions

 

Provide support to buildings across the district in developing ASD-specific behavior interventions to increase students with ASD access to general education instruction and participation.

 

Facilitate Autism team meetings like the SPED team meetings on a bi-monthly basis, keeping track of upcoming meetings for students with ASD in the district and addressing needs for students with ASD in buildings. 

 

Represent the Autism team at staffing meetings for students with ASD to advocate for autism-specific goals, objectives, and accommodations to be built into the IEP/504/MTSS plan.

 

Provide updates on strategy supports being implemented as part of the PLAAFP.

 

Develop and maintain Student profile sheets on all students with ASD so that students involved with multiple educators (special teachers, interventionists, secondary subject teachers, etc.) will have an accurate document that reflects learning and behavioral interventions and stays with them through all educational transitions.

 

Be available to address needs with the support of Autism team members in the building when additional strategy support meetings are called for

 

Collect information regarding referrals for autism assessment and reviews of outside ASD evaluations and provide that information to the Autism Evaluation Team.
